Interpersonal competencies of emotional intelligence
Case: Ana María Campos Petrochemical Complexin the municipality of Miranda, Venezuela

The purpose of this research was to describe the interpersonal competences of emotional intelligence in the personnel of the Ana María Campos Petrochemical Complex in the Miranda municipality, Zulia state, Venezuela. The theoretical contributions were based on the criteria of various authors. Methodologically,
the research was of a projective type, with a field, non-experimental, transectional design.
The population consisted of 340 employees with a sample of 77 subjects from the Petrochemical
Complex. Among the techniques and instruments used to collect the data, a questionnaire consisting of 30 items was used, validated through the judgement of 5 experts. The Alpha Cronbach statistic yielded an index of r = 0,93. The results determined that the workers have a very high deficiency of empathy that prevents them from relating to others, as well as in social skills for teamwork and communication. Finally, it is concluded that there is a low knowledge and use of social competences in the staff, which directly affects empathy and social skills, damaging the emotional control of their
actions in the workplace.
