Expression is one of the trends that are present in reality, therefore, communicative competences are taken into account, defined as the aptitudes that people possess to interact mutually, hence the importance of teaching them in primary education. From this perspective, the purpose of this article is: to understand the theoretical basis that sustains the teaching of communicative competences in children in basic primary education, given that they are essential for their integral formation. In relation to this, documentary research was carried out, by means of the filing of sources, in order to obtain the most valid information, concluding the importance of these competences in the constitution of human beings, as a basis for the social construction of the individual.
