Para entender a necessidade de transformação digital no campo da educação continuada, primeiro devemos estar cientes da existência de uma sociedade digitalizada facilitada pelas mudanças tecnológicas e pelo fenômeno da globalização. Essas mudanças estão transformando nossa maneira de compreender o mundo e viver nele. É neste contexto de transformação digital que a sociedade espera que a educação continuada superior responda às necessidades de digitalização. Com o objetivo de definir padrões que facilitem os processos de transformação em nossas instituições de ensino superior no desenvolvimento de programas de formação continuada, este artigo analisa, por meio de 26 artigos (entre 2017 e 2022), selecionados usando a metodologia PRISMA, as principais dimensões, níveis e atores envolvidos nos processos de transformação digital. Os resultados obtidos nos levam a concluir que este é um campo de interesse emergente, especialmente após a pandemia do COVID-19, que acelerou os processos de digitalização.
